the whole shebang…

the ins and outs & ups and downs of a new novelist's journey

my psychic reading. June 15, 2009

so, i’m not writing about writing today…
i’m going to spend some time adding pages to the blog
—some deleted scenes and other shortshort stories from writing prompts will be available to read.
also the beginnings of a few other novels.
i’ll be adding this stuff over the next couple of days, whenever i get the chance….

but on to the title topic — tarot cards and palm reading.
yesterday, i went to a psychic for the first time.
’twas interesting.
i’ve not a clue if i believe in this stuff, but apparently i will have a successful business by the end of next year! well, the only thing i’m working on ‘business-wise’ is my book.
does that mean it’ll be published?? idk..

but, whether it’s true or not, it definitely got me motivated to finish it.
my own personal deadline has been to have it polished enough by the end of this year to start querying before and into 2010.

aside from anything to do with Avalon, she actually knew some rather personal things about me that i didn’t offer. things that weren’t vague in the least and wouldn’t work for everyone.
some of the things no one but me knows.
it definitely made me think….
i’m not sure if i’ll ever go back, but it was a fun experience and i’m extremely glad i did it.

something i’ve always wondered about and wanted to do is crossed off of my list.
hmmm… that just gave me an idea. i might just have to make a list of all the things i want to do and experience. sounds rather fun, now that i think about it.

anyway, just wanted to share that you might just possibly be reading the blog of a soon-to-be-published author lol ;)
better make nice now hahaha  j/k

have a great day and check out the new pages as they pop up!!

You have a Bucket List. cool.

I never went to a psychic. My sister did when she was a teen. The psychic told her she would die in a rollercoaster accident when she was 35.

Barb, my sister, never blinked an eye. She went about her life as if she never heard it. I, on the other hand, was so traumatized, I cried for days and for everytime I thought about it for the next 20 years. I held my breath the year she turned 35. I knew I couldn’t tell her to avoid amusement parks. She would remember the psychic’s comment and purposely go to one.

People like me should NEVER see a psychic.:)

    • Eden Tyler Says:

yeah, you probably shouldn’t see one! lol
i didn’t take it quite so seriously, but then again, she only told me good stuff about my life and my writing.
watch — the opposite of what she said is what will come to pass haha
      my, i hope not!!

and yeah, i suppose i do have a bucket list now!
i didn’t until i wrote the blog, but i already have a few things on it. it’s a rather good idea!! i’m already saving money for a trip =)

I went to see a psychic in november of 2007, I was curious about it as some of my friends had been to see the same woman. She was very nice and gave me 2 different readings one for the close future and one for the year to come. Alot of it seemed quite positive for example that I would meet someone and our relationship would be 50/50 with no secrets, also that I would make money through my creative abilities which I assumed was possibly my dreamcatcher business although I would also like to become a published writer.
As the year progressed it seemed nothing I was told seemed to be coming true, I didn’t meet anyone and my dreamcatcher business was going slow.
However this year thats all changed, it seems as though she got alot of things right but got the year wrong.
I hope your writing goes well and you do manage to become a successful published writer.

    • Eden Tyler Says:

thank you, yvonne!! i hope so, too ;)

interesting about the psychic you went to…
hey, at least the stuff was right. that’s a good thing! you just had to wait a little longer…
the lady i spoke with talked about a time frame from 2 wks from now to 3 years ahead.
we’ll see what comes to pass.

      how’s your business going?
are you writing a novel? or short stories?
      just curious… =)

      • the business isn’t going to badly at the moment, been getting a few orders.
I’m currently working on a series of 4 novels but I also write short stories, it just depends on the ideas I get.
The series of 4 that I’m working on I started last January hopefully one day I might get them all finished and sent away :D

        y –
        awesome!!
        glad to hear it =)
it’d be great to read your work sometime!!!

      • if i ever managed to get some of it finished lol. i have a few friends want to read some of what ive wrote they keep asking when im going to give them a copy as they have been waiting for ages. maybe one day i’ll get the chance :D
so what kind of things do you write about?

      • Eden Tyler Says:

        y –
        everything…
        seriously!

my fave is fantasy. it’s just the easiest for me and there are so many liberties that other genres don’t give you.
        but i’m working on::
        1) an adult urban fantasy
        2) a memoir
        3) an adult sci-fi — i’m using fringe science & quantum physics
        4) a romantic comedy
        5) an undercover cop story

so, yeah, a lot of different things.
i have so many interests. but the one i’ll finish first is the urban fantasy. and then i’m going to attempt to change it up and make it an illustrated children’s book.
i’m ambitious, but it doesn’t mean i actually get a lot done lol
        =)

      • I think the advantages to writing a variety of genres is that it will appeal to more people. Writing only one genre limits yourself to a smaller market.
I write a variety of things aswell though mainly on the murder side of things lol.
The series of 4 that I’m working on is a bit of a mix of murder/who-done-it/ghost/romance think I have a bit of everything flung in haha.

      • Eden Tyler Says:

        i completely agree with you.
heck, even some of my individual works cross genres. so it could be marketed one way, but might appeal to many others.
some agents find it a problem, but authors can always have different agents for different works, i suppose…

      • I’m sure it doesnt really matter how many genres you cross if an agent thinks its good enough to publish he/she will find a publisher to take your work, after all it pays them to get your work published if its good enough

I’ve thought about getting my cards read – never did it tough…one day! But, I have had others tell me that I was in their card read – and I’m looking forward to the moment when it all these wonderful predictions about my life come to pass! LOL

    • Eden Tyler Says:

that’s cool that you were in a card read!!
good thing they were happy predictions!
someone was in mine, but she couldn’t say who it was exactly. apparently that person has something to tell me.
      yeah…sounded a little vague to me….

hey, it was fun all the same =)

  4. In one way I certainly hope the physic was right and you get published. But don’t worry if it’s not this year!

Don’t feel bad if it takes time to get it done though. I’m on one of my many edits for my book… My second is in rough draft/ outline area.

This is a great blog I’ll be coming by often.

    • Eden Tyler Says:

it’d be awesome if she was right, but i won’t worry if she’s not.
i know it’s a struggle for most writers to get published, so i’m prepared for an uphill battle.
but hey, i’m up for a good surprise, too ;)

thanks for stopping by!! definitely come by more =)
      i loved yours, as well!!!!

  5. jenniferneri Says:

You know, I feel the same way about writing all over the show, but I’ve always wondered if this would turn publisher’s off.

    • Eden Tyler Says:

      j –
i think (based on the timestamp) that you were replying to my comment about all that i’m writing.

i just searched for a post about it, but to no avail…
anyway, someone wrote recently about making a brand for yourself, but not type-casting yourself. it’s a fine line, but i personally feel it’s a good thing if a writer can write in different genres. and then your brand is different for each one. so when a reader picks up a book, they know what ride they’re in for.
i wasn’t alone in feeling that way, either. so i’m pretty sure it’s possible… i hope, at least ;)
